Inquire Capitalism

Graphic Designer

I was tasked with creating the brand identities for Inquire Capitalism and its sub-program, Gainesville Business History Program. Both are a part of UF's College of Liberal Arts.

The Brief

The client requested a brand identity that is professional, vibrant, and can be expanded beyond just the main logo. Since the program is less than 10 years old, new sub-programs can be added or changed, and the identity should be able to adjust without upending the design language.

Concepts

The initial logo designs went in a number of directions: creating an icon set based off of historical Gainesville buildings, using icons/symbols associated with writing and history, and taking inspiration from older art deco styles.

Final Logos

Each icon of this mark represents a different aspect of the Inquire Capitalism program:

Green: Record-keeping; looking closely at business history.

Orange: A network of local businesses keeping Gainesville alive.

Yellow: Oral history creating business history.

Blue: History of commerce & business transactions at the local level.

As part of Inquire Capitalism, Gainesville Business History Program keeps the same symbol as represented in the yellow icon: multiple oral histories creating a shared business history.
